About Landmarks of Dekalb County, Alabama
Landmarks of DeKalb County, Inc was organized as a 501-c-3 non-profit corporation on August 4, 1969, for the purpose of increasing and sharing knowledge of historical information and to encourage preservation of historical structures of historical significance in the DeKalb County area. From the organization's first achievement—the purchase and the restoration of the historic Opera House in downtown Fort Payne—to the present, Landmarks has served as a major instrument for preserving the history of DeKalb County's people and places.
